Founded in Zurich in 1926, New Re has been headquartered in Geneva since 1940. In 1988, New Re became part of the Munich Re Group, the world’s leading reinsurer. Owing to the expansion of New Re’s strategic scope within the Munich Re Group, New Re has relocated its operations to Zurich in 2009.

Our strategy is built on three pillars:

• Non-life treaty reinsurance business for European clients
• Life reinsurance business for European clients
• Development of new business fields and new products for the Munich Re Group

Whilst New Re has been firmly established in the first two segments for many years, the new business fields are in the process of being developed from our new Zurich headquarters. They comprise variable annuity life business, products for financial institutions, reinsurance for agricultural risks, and solvency-related products for insurance companies.
